Jim Brown –
Best knife sharpener by far but there is a secret to using it.
I just got this sharpener today. I have sharpened at least a dozen knives with no real problem. Some of the kitchen knives that belong to my mother and probably have never been sharpened were a problem. Sharpening the straight edge was easy the curved section of the blade that contacts the cutting surface was the most dull. I could feel the sharpened edge kept moving around the curve, so it was sharpening the edge but taking a lot of time, so I used a Smiths electric sharpener to re-profile that portion of the blade then I worked the edge, and it sharpened out easily. I have used it on kitchen and camping knives so far. Now the secret and it isn’t really a secret since it is mentioned in a company video. You must put a bit of oil on it where it contacts the edge being sharpened. I put a drop of oil on it between knives I am sharpening. I will always have one of these sharpeners with me. It is the easiest way to sharpener any knife. I did use it on several serrated steak knives, and it sharpened them easily.
